lockdown poetry

I’ll begin this blog by charting the progress of The Out-Islands. If I feel up to it I’ll write about things I’m reading and quite possibly poetry in general.

The Out-Islands is published on Feb 1st by Smokestack, one of the best, most interesting of Britain’s small presses. It’s run by the remarkable Andy Croft.

We start with 200 copies. Lockdown isn’t the best of times for a book of poems to make its way and the marketing department is me and my laptop more or less. Neither of us are naturals. I’m a poor networker and don’t relish reading in public. Not an outsider exactly but on the outside of the inside for sure. But I have time. The book’s good. Let’s see how it goes.

As of today, the book has just come back from the press and Andy’s sending me 6 free copies and 10 discounted copies. Who gets one of the 6 free copies? First problem. This is not going to be plain-sailing. (if you think you deserve one let me know.)
